At this point, the November training is filled and we are collecting a waitlist. This list DOES see movement, so you may contact us to be added and contacted for future trainings.
WE ALSO NEED VOLUNTEER PATIENTS AND HELP TO PUT ON THESE TRAININGS.
These trainings are run on a tight sliding-scale budget–and we try to provide a lot. We rely heavily on the following kinds of help:
- VOLUNTEER PATIENTS Saturday & Sunday 2-5
- Donations of food or time prepping food
- Printing & some medical supplies
If you are interested in volunteering or otherwise contributing to this work, please get in touch with us at rosehipmedics@gmail.com. Thanks!!
This November 6th-9th the Rosehip Medic Collective are putting on a 20-hour Street Medic Training.
Our trainings are open to people of any skill level; we encourage EMTs to attend our trainings as strongly as we do people with no first aid background. The training is holistic, focusing on preparation, actions and aftercare. Participants leave with useful tools whether they plan on being a medic at every major protest or if they simply want basic first aid knowledge for their neighborhood.
The schedule is intensive, with one evening session (Friday) and two long days (Sat/Sun) that include hands-on practices and realistic scenarios. We strive to make our trainings accessible, safe and supportive for all people and will work with you beforehand to make sure that your needs are met. Please let us know about any questions or concerns that might prevent you from training!
Our training includes:
- the why’s, what’s, how’s and ethics of street medicking
- action preparedness
- patient assessment, basic first aid skills and life-saving techniques
- when to call 911 and how to interact with Emergency Medical Services
- police violence and chemical weapons
- use of herbs in the streets and for aftercare
- packing your first aid kit
- and much more!
The training will take place on the following dates:
-Friday, Nov 6th 5pm-9pm
-Saturday, Nov 7th, 9am-6:30pm
-Sunday, Nov 8th, 9am-6:30pm
The location is not yet public as we are finalizing some details. It will be accessible by bike, car and public transportation.
Please note that we ask a $25-50 donation from all participants to cover our costs and fundraiser for collective members to attend the convention protests as medics. We only require a $10 deposit to hold your place then you can pay the rest on or before the training dates. If this payment would represent a serious barrier to your participation, please contact us early to make alternative arrangements
If you are interested in attending this training, please e-mail us (rosehipmedics@gmail.com) to begin the registration process. Our last training filled rapidly, please get back to us as soon as possible.
We are only able to hold spots for participants that can commit to the full training. If you are interested in our trainings but unable to commit for its entirety this time, we encourage you to volunteer as a scenario patient or in other support capacities. We gratefully accept printing, food, supplies, and monetary donations.
