What a busy month we have coming up! In the first two weeks of May, the Pacific Northwest will see two regional and international events for which street medics have been requested: Mayday (May 1st, Portland, OR) and Break Free (May 12-15, Anacortes, WA). There is also word of possible protests as the overtly sexist, white supremacist, and fascist presidential candidate Donald Trump comes to the Northwest. If interested in medicking (or just attending) any of these events, read on for more details.
We recommend that everyone also brush up on their protest safety guidelines and bring the water, supplies, and clothes for themselves and a buddy.

May Day — International Worker’s Day — May 1 in Portland (facebook)
PORTLAND MAY DAY RALLY 2016 :This year’s May Day promises to be energetic, large, and engage many communities fighting for racial, economic, legal, environmental, and social justice. As usual, Rosehips invite medics to meet up nearby ahead of the fun at 1pm and make buddy pairs. Look for the red duct tape (and bring your own!)
Break Free — May 12-15 in Anacortes, WA
A site with two refineries where hundreds of people will risk arrest by engaging in peaceful civil disobedience. Organizers have reserved campsites and indoor locations for housing and expect upwards of 1000 participants on a large family-friendly march Saturday, as well as hundreds to risk arrest in civil disobedience. Cars and buses will head up Thurs & Fri. If interested in medicking, email us so we can put you in touch with the medical organizers and work together.
Keep your eyes open for training and other announcement too as we head into the summer and convention season (RNC, DNC). Not yet sure who will be heading those ways, but medics will be wanted.
