Free Care Night and Alt2EMS Anthology Release — Fri, Jan 30th

Rosehip Medics are partnering with non-profit cafe Sisters Of The Road to offer a FREE care night for activists and community members in liberatory struggle– and the formal zine release for our long-awaited Alternatives to Emergency Medical Services Anthology, printed by Eberhardt Press.

Free Care Night + Alt2EMS Anthology Zine Release

This will be a great opportunity for some of the hard-working folks fighting for racial justice, housing rights, $15+/hr minimum wage, cop-free campuses, and other social justice struggles in our community to receive some free care. Herbs, acupuncture, bodywork, ‘ask-a-medic’, and jail support prep are just a few of the kinds of care stations we hope to offer free of charge.

When: 6-9pm, Friday Jan 30th

Where: Sisters of the Road Cafe (133 NW Sixth Avenue|Portland, Oregon 97209)

How much: FREE!

Why: Because care work is necessary to sustain radical and liberatory movements.

The basic structure of the event will be a free space for folks to show up, get oriented (and tea, snacks) and receive whatever modalities of care we have available.  There will be no charge (though we and our hosts will gratefully accept donations!)
[Providers and medicine makers interested in volunteering their services for this event are invited to email us at rosehipmedics@gmail.com This event will be a blast!

This event is the third such care night organized by the Rosehip Medic Collective (rosehipmedics.org), returning a second time to Sisters Of The Road, a nonprofit cafe in Oldtown with 36 years of history of mutual aid among housed and unhoused Portlanders.

We will also take approximately 30 mins to introduce our most recently completed zine/pamphlet project, the Alternatives to EMS Anthology–a collection of essays, interviews, and stories by informal and formal care providers working from social justice and community care orientations (read more on the Rosehip homepage). Other zines and schwag will be on sale sliding scale to support Rosehip projects. If you can’t afford to purchase anything, never fear. All our zines are free to download on our website.

Please check out our Facebook page and share with friends.

Hope to see you out in a couple weeks!
